Getting support – referrals

If you have a child under seven and would like support from Home-Start Guernsey, please give us a call or send us an email to discuss your needs. If you’re not currently eligible for our service, don’t worry – we can usually connect you with another organisation that can help so please do still get in touch.

Are you a professional wanting to refer a family?

If you are a health visitor, doctor, social worker, or any other professional working with families and believe someone could benefit from our service, you can make a referral on their behalf with their consent.

Please call us on 01481 226099 to discuss the family’s situation. If a referral is appropriate, we will provide a referral form for you to complete.

What happens next?

• Each referral is carefully assessed to ensure the support needed falls within Home-Start Guernsey’s remit.

• We will visit the family to discuss their needs and explain the services Home-Start provides.

• We then match the family with a volunteer whose skills and experience best meet their requirements.

• Once a suitable volunteer is available, the coordinator will introduce them to the family and accompany them on their first visit. Please note that it may take time to find a suitable volunteer and if a match cannot be made, you will be informed.

• We will keep you updated on when Home-Start support begins and ends and may ask for your feedback on the impact our service has had on the family.
